Stage 1 - On Water
The Stage 1 On Water components are now completed and in use.
Floating Marina Arm
The installation of the new floating marina arm, located right in front of the clubhouse, has provided an additional 29 new floating marina berths.
Wave Attenuator - Wangim Walk
Another major milestone in the progression of the GWSHP project was the opening of Wangim Walk – Geelong’s new $10.1 million, 440m wave attenuator that stretches out over Corio Bay to form one of Australia’s largest on-water walkways.
The wave attenuator was named Wangim Walk by the community, meaning ‘boomerang’ in the local Wadawarrung language.
Not only does Wangim Walk welcome the public for a unique experience to walk on water, the versatile structure also offers increased protection for the marina, creating a safe harbour and being a major drawcard for boat owners.
With this development comes more opportunity for the club, both on water and on land including attracting major national and international events and allowing visiting and RGYC vessels to tie up on the landmark and explore Geelong’s CBD. .
